Honda Accord crank pulley shifting
Hello,
I have a 1998 honda accord LX. Recently they changed the crankshaft pulley. The pulley was shifting side to side and making a rattling noise. When they changed it, they showed me the old one and you could noticed the teeth were very flat and the rubber worned out. They changed it. The car has been running good, the noise went away, but I still notice the crank pulley shifting about half an inch from left to right. What could be the cuase of this. Has my crankshaft gone bad? Is it because I didn't buy an OEM crank pulley? I bought the Dorman brand.
Please advice.
Thank you,
Enrique

Dorman makes pretty good stuff IMO.....so I'm worried that either the "snout" of the crank has damage...or the new one got damaged.
Use a marker and draw a line from the inside of the pulley to the outside ring. Run the car for a bit of time....then re-sheck the "line".....is is still lined up or did it move?

Well, lets clarify things...
Wobble would be (for example) a bad crank pulley, it's not straight & true. So they pulley wobbles as it spins.
What I was afraid of, is loose thrust-bearings on the crankshaft. In that case the crankshaft itself is shifting axially in it's bearings. It doesn't wobble with each revolution of the crank; it moves more slowly and straight in & out.
