How to clean EGR ports for a 94 accord EX VTEC
#14
Yeah, I don't get it either. My son commented that it has better pickup. He would know better than me, since I seldom put my foot in it. Anyway, Hondadude, thanks for posting those instructions. Light out, running better.

It used to be the easy check for port plugging on the old style EGR valve, stick your finger under the cap and push up the pintle and the car would stall at idle if the ports are clear.
But nowadays we have to get all fancy and hookup the scan tool then go thru the menus to "command" the ECU to open the EGR.....and then you get to clear all the codes you trip by doing that simple test.
What used to be a 1 minute tool free test is now a "super technology" chore that takes 15 minutes.
Isn't progress just flippin great?

Progress....
Used to be able to check tire pressures in 90 seconds with a little gauge you can buy from any store. Now you need TPMS sensors at each wheel ($75 each) because a bunch of SUV drivers didn't want to bother checking their tire pressures. Much easier to call a lawyer after you crash.
