Default How do i tighten the alternator (serpentine) belt?

I have a 98 accord LX and somehow the bolt that holds the alternator came half way out and i cannot align the other side so i can put the bolt in. How do i loosen the belt so i can put the bolt in?

Which bolt are you talking about? 4, 5, or 6?

Number 6, the upper mounting alternator bolt it comes out in between the power steering belt, i see in a manual i just found that there is an adjusting bolt but i tried to loosen it and nothing happened.

Any thoughts on how i can put that bolt back in?

you need to loosen up the 12 mm nut ( # 10 ) in the picture, also loosen up the 14 mm bolt ( # 6 ) then back off 10mm bolt ( # 5 )

once belt is loose,( or slip the belt off ) it will make it easier to move the alt around and do whatever you need to do

It worked, after i loosened the nut, #10, the belt loosened and i was able to screw in the bolt completely and re-tighten the belt. Now it does not squeal when i start it up or have the a/c on. Thank you all very much for your quick replies.
