Default How to use seafoam to clean egr

Hi, where is the post in DIY to use sea faom to clean the carbon build up?
before I start sucking it through any vacuum hoses I want to make sure I do it right and can ID where I need to pour this.
I plan to put a can in the gas tank, but want to try running it thorough the vac. lines as well.
So how do I do it?
Thanks

Thanks for the tip. can you describe the hose for the brake booster in more detail?
I want to use this hose if possible. Where in the engine compartment is it? bythe air filter? or by the vacuum box next to the fuel filter?

I don't think Seafoam pulled through a vacuuum line will clean the EGR. The seafoam is pulled through the engine, combusted, and discharged into exhaust. It should clean the intake, pistons, and exhaust valves. A small amout of EG is recycled back through the EGR system to cool combustion. This EG will not contain much active SeaFoam, and seems unlikely to be an effective cleaner.

To clean EGR, I think you'll have to disassemble and mechanically clean. I've cleaned 3 systems now; two Accords and one Acura. All were filled w/ hard carbon that was difficult to remove even w/ direct access, chemicals (throttle body cleaner), and wire brush.

I have seen special purpose systems designed to clean EGR system w/ direct, pressure-energized injection of solvents directly though the EGR. It cost several hundred $ as I remember.

good luck

I heard that Seafoam is not good for the motor has more than 150000 miles on them. Is it still true? I am just curious because I wanted to use that on my accord with 192000 miles on it and I am not sure if I can use it or not.I Have read this on other Honda forums.

accordfan222,

I saw on another site that the o2 sensor and/or spark plugs could get dirty from the first time application of seafoam. Not sure of the validity of that statement.
