Hi guys, I just bought a 90 accord ex about a month ago but it has a problem. Whenever I drive it then put it in park, the park "P" doesn't illuminate right away. For awhile I could just wiggle the shifter for a bit and it would come on. It is a pain because the key wont come out of the ignition until it comes on. Oh, it's an automatic just in case you need to know. I've already sprayed silicone oil into the ignition and it starts better but the dang key still sticks.

Sounds like the shift possition switch is dirty or out of adjustment. It's under the center console on the left side of the shifter assembly.

 

Is it easy to clean? Should I try to do it myself? I dont want to break anything. I guess that I'll try to take the center console off and look at it. Thanks

 

chk the shift cable adjustment.. it is done at center console,,,,,,,

remove center console, remove the pin at top side for the shift cable and make sure that the 2 holes align properly ,,if nut, loosen the 10mm nut and adjust the cable accordingly
