I developed a serious squeak in my 2007 Accord. Turns out both front struts are needing replacement. Is this a little soon for a failure like this?

 

Depending on mileage... it's a little early but not impossible.

 

Squeaking is usually the anti-sway bar, but certainly struts can squeak. Did replacement fix the squeak then?

A test I like for struts/shocks is to drive over a square drop-off of 2-3 inches. If the wheel slams down, they are definitely worn. Still requires some judgement.

Thanks for the comments. The car has 34,000 miles on it. I took it back to the dealer and they are going to replace both struts. Bought it used last year, just a little surprised the struts didn't last longer.
