Default Need Help! 94 Accord Lx!

Hey all!
I just got my accord! It has a check engine light and im unable to read it using the paper clip method. Ill try and the check engine light and it will just stay on, no blinking at all. I also cant find anyone who has the obd1 tester for a honda.

Here my problem: I try to start my car. It cranks and then dies. 3-5 times later it will finally catch and stay on. When its on it runs like a champion! Im just trying to figure it out so i can start it on the first crank. Already did a tune up. That didnt work.

What i know: I know my air intake tube has a hole or something. Its duct taped. And i have a pretty bad exhaust leak. Smells horrible! Please help.

Pick up a cheapo cen-tech multimeter at harbor freight, check for continuity on the two pin plug. Does the idle drop at all once it's warmed up?

Yes when its warmed up it idles at about 500 rpms!

I still haven't found out why its not starting on first crank. If i hold the key on while starting and hit the gas it will turn on, but it dies instantly. If i crank it three to five times its catches and runs no problem. I really don't understand whats wrong.

We need more information before jumping to testing sensors.

Turn the key to the II position, but do not try to start the car. Does the check engine light turn on for about two seconds, then turn off? Do also you hear the fuel pump turn on for those two seconds? It is a faint whirling/buzzing sound from the back seat, so turn off the radio, blower, etc.. and listen carefully.

And/or does the check engine light turn on while the car is running?

When you short the connector, and the CEL stays on, that means that no codes are stored.

Check if the 7.5 amp backup/radio fuse in the engine bay fuse box is good. Also check the 10 amp ECU fuse.

On the 94 accord, the first line on the tachometer is 500 rpm, then 750. There is no 250 rpm mark, so recheck what rpm your car is idling at. Also verify the rpm when the car is idling high.

The fuel pump does come on.

Check engine light stays on when the car is running.

When i short the connector it does stay on.

Will check the fuses later.

The car idles high at start up. Its about 1500. Then when put into gear it goes down to 500. When the ac is on it goes down even more. I just fixed the ac and notice my car now dies every now and then at a stop sign or red light. Replaced the coil and no luck. Cleaned the iacv and that didnt work either.

Did you replace the bad fuses?

Crank the car and jump the service connector - does it give any codes?
