Need new key cut for 2005 Accord EX
Hi, all - first post so please be gentle...
I have a 2005 Accord EX, bought new from the dealership. About a year ago, one of the key fobs broke and the metal key came loose. Since then I've tried everything from UV-curing glue to Gorilla Tape to try to hold this thing together, but nothing lasts more than a few weeks if I'm lucky.
A couple of months ago, I ordered a replacement key fob online for less than $10. I figured I could just transfer the electronics over to the new fob and I'd be done with it. I didn't realize that there isn't a locksmith in town that I've spoken to who can physically cut the metal key blank. There is no way I can find to transfer the old metal key to the new fob without breaking the new fob beyond repair (putting me right back at square 1).
So I guess I have two questions out of all of this:
1) Any suggestions where else I could check, other than the stealership, to have this key blank physically cut?
2) Will the stealership likely be willing to cut just the key blank, or will they insist on replacing the entire key, electronics and all? I'd really rather not spend $200 on a new key. What's a fair price for them to ask to cut the key blank?
Thanks in advance for any useful information!

You'll have to call and ask the dealership what they charge. Also find out what documentation you need to prove ownership of the vehicle.
I had my aftermarket key cut at the Acura dealership based on my VIN without them programming it.
