I replaced my distributor because I kept getting the P1382 code.. Haven't drove the car much since.. Check engine light is still on even after disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting.. Advanced auto wouldn't reset it for me.. When I was replacing the distributor one of the wires came loose (the bottom one in the photo to be exact) it seems to be black which indicates ground, right? Any experts out there on what these wires are for? Can't find anything specific. I kind of just jammed it back in the connector and made sure it was secure.. A buddy of mine is telling me it's probably loose and that's why I still have the CEL.. Thoughts?

 

Yellow & black are for the CYP sensor. That fits with P1382 being the code for no signal from the CYP sensor.

The black one is the ground for that CYP sensor. It goes to pin 30 in connector "C" of the PCM. (Careful with the yellow wire, I think it's shielded.)

I think the ICM is grounded through the distributor body & mounting bolt, so the distributor doesn't have an overall "ground wire".

 

To clear codes on a 98 thru 2002 Accord, remove fuse #13 in the passenger side fusebox for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and put the little door back on.

 

No matter the method of clearing the codes, it doesn't help unless you fix the problem that causes it. There is no such thing as preventing the same code from immediately coming back if the problem isn't fixed.

 

Oh I agree 100% Jim, but further up the thread he was wanting to clear the code(s). I just figured I'd tell him how to clear them.
But you're absolutely right, he needs to fix the problem first, then clear the codes. The only thing I can think of, is maybe clearing the codes to make sure the same code is the 1 coming back. I did that on my 99 Accord when I got the dreaded code P1457. I reset the codes, and it did come back. At least now I know I have to do something with the evap system when it warms up again in the spring.
