Default Radiator fans

I just replaced the radiator on a 97 Accord (had a leak). Instructions I found online said to put the coolant in, turn on the engine and let it run until the radiator fan comes on twice. I let the car run for a while and it never came on. So I took it for a drive and everything seemed to be running good. No leaks, good temperature. The A/C fan comes on when I turn the A/C on (standing in front of the hood, the one to the left next to the overflow reservoir), so I know that one is working...But the same fan comes on automatically after I park the car. Shouldn't it be the other fan coming on?

The driver's side fan is technically called the a/c fan, and the passenger side fan is the radiator fan. I know that both should turn on when the a/c is on.

PAhonda,

Yeah I just read that both should be running when the A/C is one. They aren't. What should I check?

Check the fuse for the radiator fan. If its good check for voltage on the connector to the fan.

Either the fan isn't getting power or the fan is shot. The quickest way to determine the problem is

Unplug connector to non-working fan, turn on car and a/c. Stick a volt meter on the two leads.

If you have 12V, replace fan. Iif you smack to motor with the handle of a screwdriver and the fan turns on, the fan motor is definitely shot.

If no voltage, then something electrical is the problem upstream.
