Power Steering Fluid for 1996 Accord

Power Steering Fluid for 1996 Accord
I need to add power steering fluid to the reservoir.
Two Questions:
1 - Is PS fluid manufacturer specific? If I go to the local auto store, do I specifically ask for Honda Fluid?
2 - Should I have the system flushed and refilled at Sears instead? I'm always concerned the "flush and fill" will cause more problems than it's worth.
If needed, I can check whether the fluid has been flushed at any point since the car was new.
Thanks,
Robert

Just me but the two fluids on a Honda where you want Honda or Honda/Acura approved fluid....PS and Auto Trans fluid.
So yes, you want Honda/Acura approved PS fluid. I have used the valvoline Honda/Acura PS fuild (HPS12) for years....or get it from the dealer.
For the flush, unless you have another issue...take a turkey baster, or something like that, and suck as much of the old fluid out of the PS res as you can, then refill with Honda/Acura PS fluid.
Again, this might be a bit of a debate....just my opinion.

Thanks for the input - I agree with you. If Honda is using a proprietary fluid, I feel safer going with that type of fluid.
It wasn't easy, but I finally found Honda/Acura specific Prestone PS fluid at Walmart. Many stores stock PS Fluid, including Auto-Zone, however Walmart was the only store that had Honda/Acura PS fluid.
