Default transmission help

Hello, guys. I'm new here. Here's the problem: When I start driving I put transmission into drive D and car starts slow as if I put it manually into a 3d gear. Letter D is too green bright. While I'm standing I try to put handle into P, R, N, D1 and so on. It shifts, but option D continues to be bright green and stays with any other buttons, like when I switch to Parking it goes to Parking but stays on D too. On interstate it does not shift so I go with 3 to 4 thousand RPM. After numerous stops and switching ignition on and off it may return to normal. Pleas help.

Default Honda Accord 1993 transmission

Guys, thank you for your interest. I took Honda to mechanic. Mechanic found no fault. He drove my car for 200 miles and my Honda Accord drove very smoothly, like new. I don't know what to think.... I repeat, it Honda Accord 1993 with 212000 miles.

I would check for engine and transmission codes. Do procedure outlined in the DIY section called How to get CEL codes. Post any codes you find on here.

Mechanic drove it 200 miles? Wow. And..it gave him no trouble. Did the mechanic check for codes ( OBD 1 connector is blue two wire at passenger kick panel below glove box.) If no code, the mechanic should have specified that fact. Still need better info to help you. Did "mechanic" check the shift cable? That should have also been noted whether or not it was correct. It's just not making any sense . Please describe your symptoms in detail. How and when it happens etc. The more info you give, even if you don't think it applies , might help. Im looking for key words. Im willing if you are able.

Thanks again for help. I don't have access to inet every day so, forgive me for not answering at once.
Well the problem with my 1993 Honda Accord LX goes like this. When I put handle into D (drive position) it lightens with green light too bright and then it starts very slow as if I have manual transmission and trying to start from 3d gear. When car gains the speed it stops to shift like on interstate it may go with 4000 rpm at 65 miles an hour. When I try to shift handle into neutral it does shifts but the green light for D stays. So I have two lights simultaneously D and N. When I stop the car and put handle into parking it moves into P but green D still stays. After numerous turns off and on, transmission starts to work normally. I noticed it happened after heavy snow blizzard in Chicago (where I live) when wind managed to get a lot of snow into the engine compartment from beneath. Alternator died almost instantly, so I replaced but transmission behaves weird. And now mechanic finds nothing wrong. I'm going to pick up my car from the shop and I will ask him if he used the codes.
I myself a long distance truck driver and that's why sometimes I don't have access to internet (I don't want to pay for constant access)
Thanks again.

The trans Computer is located next to ECU in front passengers foot well. Did it get wet there? What your describing is the trans is stuck and has third gear only. Mechanic says its fine? Dont know how I can help you here in sunny California. Good luck. I,ll watch this post.
