Default Power steering pump reseal

The pwr. steer. pump on my '85 Accord is leaking badly. I bought the kit, but had a couple of questions:

1)It recommends Honda steering fluid, what's the diff?

2) The manual says I need a spacer to fit on when installing front seal, what is this and is it really necessary?

Anyway, the rebuild looks pretty simple, but any advice will be appreciated, this little gem has (only) 106,000 mi. and is loaded!

Default RE: Power steering pump reseal

if you use a p/s fluid non honda , because of the chemical additives , it will ruin the seals in the p/s rack..

As for the frt seal you do not need anything, just make sure not to nick the inside of the seal on the shaft when you install it, also stuff the inner part of the seal , where the spring is with greasae, this way won';t make the spring pop out ...if the little spring pops put you will have a leak,, after you put all together, start the car ,make sure that there is no leak
