Default Question about new Honda Transmissions and Failures of the past

I currently have a '93 Accord with nearly 250k on it with the original trans in it. I had a '93 Civic and the trans blew at 95,000 miles. My 2001 Odyssey had the trans mission blow at 53,000 miles and then AGAIN at 146,000 miles. With the Civic, I didn't know much about cars then and didn't change the fluid. My current Accord and the Ody, have the trans fluid changed every 15,000 miles (the manual only says 30,000 miles) with Mobil1 Fully Synthetic ATF and the ODY still has had all these failures.

I am going to be in the market for a 2008 ACCORD with a V6 and wanted to know how the transmissions are doing in these new vehicles. Will I be in the same boat with the 08 Accord transmission as my current Accord or my blow it up every few years Odyssey? Does the 08 Accord have a replaceable trans filter?

Thanks for the response.

I think the 08 Transmissions may be too new to predict failures. I'm not sure if it is the same trans as the 7th gen accords. Supposedly the automatic trans failure issue was resolved in the 7th gens. Buy a manual trans and you won't have to worry about it[8D]

Basic, newbie question..... What years represent which generation? I have a '93, is that a 5th gen? Is the '08 a 7th generation? Also, are you saying that the 6th generation ('07's) have trans issues?

4th gen = 90-93
5th gen = 94-97
6th gen = 98-02
7th gen = 03-07
8th gen = 08 - ?

The Accord trans problems were in the 6th gen (98-02) automatics
I heard of a few problems in the 03-04 models, but not nearly as prevalent andit was supposedly resolved by 05.

Some of the Ody's were involved in the class action suit for having a faulty tranny component (2000-2002's), The Civic I think would have been fine had a fluid change been done but I'm still a tad suprised that it failed.... As for the 08 if it's got the same tranny as the 7th gen's then I'd say you're just fine, if it's a new one then no one will know until a few thousand people hit that 100,000 mile mark but I would be dumbfounded if Honda produced a bad tranny after what they went through.
