Exclamation Quick questions about EVAP P1457! PICTURES! 3-way coupler??

Hello everyone,

To start off, I have had the code P1457 for about a year now. I changed the bypass solenoid located on the vapor canister about 6 months ago and the code came back. So i returned the solenoid and got my money back since that did not work.

Now I bought the vapor canister and as I was removing it to replace it I saw there was a small hose with a 3-way plastic coupler. I was guessing the third nipple got loose, I then remove another small part where I thought it was connected to. I look at where I thought it was connected to and there was NO opening.

So basically there is a hose with a 3 way coupler and one of the nipples is open.

So now my question, Would this be causing my EVAP p1457 Leak code? Is it normal for that 3rd nipple to be open? Is that 3-way coupler oem? I bought the car from another person not from the dealer.

Thanks for your input!

I did more research and found that nothing connects to that 3-way nipple.

In this picture it is #11 showing the nipple and nothing connecting to the 3rd one.

I replaced the canister, hopefully this does the trick! Does anyone recommend replacing the hoses that go into the canister?

Well, if you replaced the canister you had the opportunity to notice whether any of those vacuum hoses were rotted from age, or leaking, or hardened, or ????

Also, the steel vent line (#23) might be corroded and leaking somewhere along it's length?
