Default Removing the intake manifold

Tomorrow i will be removing the intake manifold to get access to the AICV to clean it. First thing is that im not really sure how to take it off. Is there like a certain bolt pattern to take off and put back on? Should i get a new gasket as well? Its a 2.2L SOHC F22B2 engine. Thanks in advance.

I believe the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) is on back side of throttle body. It is difficult to access but can be accessed w/o removing intake manifold.

I used an open/closed end 12mm wrench to access and remove the 2 bolts. I then laid the IACV back and cleaned in place w/ coolant lines attached. You can remove the coolant hose connections and clean externally, but will loose some coolant. Vise grips on hoses will minimize coolant loss.

A tedious process but easier than removing intake manifold.

Regarding intake manifold, I don't remember a bolt tightening sequence. The bolts are difficult to access and some additional bolts holding electrical harnesses and a brace must be accessed from underneath.

good luck

i think he is confusing the IAC valve and the fast idle thermo valve.

Yes, that is same location as my 94 EX and it can be done w/o removing intake manifold.

good luck

Thank you guys. I did it without removing the intake manifold. It was a little difficult but probably easier than removing the intake manifold. I let the car cool down for 3 hours with the hood popped up then started it up and no more fluctuating idle. Thank you guys very much.
