Default Serious Problem (Engine shaking/Check Engine light flashing)

Hello,

On my way home from work tonight I noticed my "Check Engine" light started flashing. The engine started running really rough, and started shaking? I pulled over and left the car in a parking lot because I didn'tthink I'd make it the rest of the way home.Any thoughts on what happened and how to fix the problem??

It's a 4 cylinder 2002 Accord VE with Automatic transmission.

Thank you in advance for any feedback

The only way to know how to help you is for you to get the code that the computer has stored.
It might be possible to limp it to a nearby parts store that could read the code for you,in hopes of selling you all kinds of parts that you may or may not need. LOL
If you can get that info I'm sure that the ideas will just fly into this post.
And I'd like to thank you for posting your year and model of Accord.

Thank you HondaDude. Can you please describe how to get the code, or link me to a post that gives information on how to get it.

I appreciate your help!

A flashing cel means there is a bad missfire in progress. That would fit with yuor rough/shaking complaint. Find out which cylinder is missing and go from there.

you'll need to plug your scan tool into the data link connector and then turn on the key.
I suggested the parts store read the code for you so that you didn't have to go spend $100 for a scan tool.

The CEL does not mean without a doubtthat there is a single cylinder with poor spark; it could mean all kinds of things as in this link;
