Default 1990 Accord Radiator

How difficult is it to replace a radiator on a 1990 Accord 5 Speed 4 Dr LX 2.2 ? I've never done one, however, the task does not intimidate me. How much would you expect a local garage mechanic to charge ? ( not the dealer ... I know how much they want $$$$$$$$$$$$) thanks Tom

u go to our DIY section there is a write up on how to replace the radiator, rwad it and see if it is something you may want to do

a shop might charge you 1.5 to 2 hrs in labor , depending on the labor rate that is what you would pay for labor,, radiator you can gat one for around 100-120 dollars

thanks - that is a nice write up .. I may try it (thanks)

My local mechanic suggested trying an off the shelf Radiator Stop Leak product.
Does anyone have any preferred brands I should try ? Or any reasons why maybe I shouldn't ?

The leak is small ... I think this may be a good solution (at least temporarily anyhow)

Thanks!

if you have a leak go ahead and replace the radiator, because stop leak is only temporary not only that most of them will gum up the rest of the cooling system as well leaving you with a messy flush job when you eventually replace the radiator anyway. Go ahead and replace the radiator and be done.

Sounds like a great idea until the heater core gets plugged up; I've seen this too many times.
If the radiator needs replaced "just do it"
