Default Windshield Wipers Not Working

I have a Honda Accord 2005. It has a auto-transmission. One day I started my car and tried turning on the wipers. It was dead. It did not respond to any of the controls. The nozzle does spray. First thing I did was I checked the fuses and relays. All worked. I replace them with a spare one and still did not work. I also realized that it was making a click sound every time I attempted to turn them on. I removed the front piece over the wiper motor to make sure the cables were in and they were. Any ideas?

I think there was a recall on the wiper motors (at least there was on my 03). If you are the original owner, you should have received a recall notice.

2 or 4 door?

I'd start with testing the motor....but that is just me

Get a spool of wire & some end-terminals. If you can find blade-terminals that connect to that plug, that'll be handy. Or alligator-clips.

Make 2 wires, one to connect the proper terminal to a solid metal ground somewhere nearby. The other one long enough to go from the battery (+) post over to that plug on the motor. If you're ambitious, you can put a switch in the (+) wire; otherwise you have to connect & disconnect it.

Okay, I will try it. I'll let you know how it went.

I tested the motor and it was dead. So, I pick up a new one and installed it and it worked. The only thing was that I installed the pattern wrong, the wiper was going down then up and stop at the middle. So I disassembled it, fixed the order then put it back together. When I tested it, it did the same thing as the first time with the old motor. No movement, and a click.

Have you tested the "new motor" just to be sure?

If the motor tests good then we can get into the "inputs" to the motor.

It worked, the motor did respond when I turned them on. The wipers went up and down. After 2 minutes they stop.

Don't know if this will make a difference in your situation; but, refer to step #17 in the following Honda TSB regarding tightening the the wiper motor center nut just enough to seat its lock washer.

In addition to making sure the 5P connector clicks into position.
