- Adding a turbocharger to a V6 engine is difficult due to space issues; issues which will require creative (i.e. expensive) intake and exhaust plumbing.
- Bone stock, the automatic transmission is challenged to deal with the power of the V6 motor; you can either get used to swapping the transmission every so often, or convert your car to a manual transmission.

Agreed, but the OP said his Accord is a 1998 model; around here at least, his Accord will fetch at least $3,000, and a similar vintage 540i (automatic), with fewer miles no less, can be had for less than $5,000. I'm thinking that the BMW will cost far less to maintain than a blown V6 Accord with a fragile transmission, be as fast if not faster, handle far better, and most importantly cost less to obtain (see my reasoning below).
- 1998 Honda Accord V6 Sedan (assumed to be paid off), plus turbocharger, intake and exhaust plumbing, and engine tuning: Net Cost = $3,000-$5,000
- 1998 BMW 540i Automatic will cost roughly $5,000, against which you can apply the $3,000 proceeds from the sale of the Accord: Net Cost = $2,000

Ive looked into boosting the j series. Theres not a lot on it. Its a unique thing, ill put it that way. But I was never impressed with the power of the early j series engines. Newer ones are a bit better, but even then, Honda does so well with 4 cylinders. And tuners do so well boosting those 4 cylinders. This is speaking more about turbochargers.
As far as upgrades- shipos right about the transmission. Which is also why the 4 cylinder Hondas are more popular- things like transmission are easily swapped.
Also injector and pump upgrades depending on the psi and peak hp, free flowing exhaust, ECU tuning, and perhaps some engine block/headwork depending on how extensive the turbo. You would also need to upgrade the cooling system. Again why many steer away from the J series for turbos.
But if you wanna still go boosted for a little less work, this is for you

Supercharging is a bit more 'practical' here- at least in a ricer's eyes :P
"So for about $6,415, you can build your Accord into one of the quickest sedans or coupes in its class, easily out-muscling almost anything that might come your way. And it won't take much time for smaller pulleys for the supercharger to become available for more boost."
Enjoy your ride, be a little creative, but maybe wait for a more versatile engine to throw a turbo in unless you have the time, money, and people. If thats the case, I would really enjoy seeing it. Its hard to find.
