Accord mileage post
Hi everyone - new guy here but not new to Accords. I'm on my second it's a 97 LX and I'm pretty happy with it! The point to this post is to see howmany miles youfolks put on your cars.Maybe brag a little and swap commute distances, looking over this site it has more of a tech feel to it but mileage is important too (to the mods, sorry if this is the wrong thread).
Bottom line is I drive 150 miles a day round trip to Port Newark NJ daily, I have 233,000 miles on my car and get this -- it's the ORIGINAL CLUTCH!! I average 32 miles a gallon and 3 trips between fillups (at least 450 miles).
I cannot complain about the performance of this car.
Does anybody else have similar a story?
Do all clutches last this long - is there a prize???
Let the one - upmanship begin!
Rick

RE: Accord mileage post
Welcome to the forum.... I moved the post to the off topic section because I think it may fit there a bit better.... Wherever is good though!
I drive about 10 miles round trip (maybe 15) and typically get 28 MPG.... the best I have ever done (when checking it) is 35 MPG on a trip to Spokane. and that is with going over 2 mountain passes.... I'm at about 150,000 miles and I believe I'm on the same clutch as well.... It's all about how you drive it, someones grandma could probably blow through a clutch every 30,000 miles (they have a tendancy to rest their foot on the pedal and "ride" them).... daily driven though I'd say 100,000 miles is easily achieveable unless you're all stop and go stuff

RE: Accord mileage post
Imgetting near to 192k on mine. I dont have a very long commute anymore, only about 10-12 miles round trip. When I first got the car, I was working two jobs, and one of them was delivering pizza. Then I got a job that required a commute of 110 miles round trip, six days a week. I put about 27,000 miles on my car in the first year I had it. Since then its made the drive from Oregon to Arizona, then Arizona to Oregon and back again lol, and then out here to Tennessee. Still on the original engine, trans, and clutch, although I think the clutch is nearing its end.

RE: Accord mileage post
Seems like everyone can get at least 100k miles on a clutch, I forgot to mention my commute is on I-78 and depending on traffic the commute can be anywhere from 1 hour 10 minutes to 6 hours - plenty of clutch action there (also 2 satellite radios)!!!
A couple of years ago I had my car serviced at the dealer and the service person (hot chick at Clinton Honda!) told me the most she ever heard anyone get on a clutch was 210,000.
I'm well past that and going!

If she was hot you should go back there and talk to her... maybe she would be impressed by how well you handle your clutch and how long it lasts for you *L*
sorry couldn't resist...
