My newest obsession
So in my dream world where I actually make some money in the future the toy car I wanted was always going to be an NSX or an Exige. Well I think I found a new front runner the other day.
This is the superlite SLC. Its a kit car that's base price starts at about $43,000. They estimate that you can complete it for about $65,000 or higher depending on how crazy you want to go with it. Its set up from the factory to use LS series engines but they make different mounts for other engines. There is also a lot of customization you can do from interior, exterior etc. The best part is you can buy the pieces as you go so you don't need to have all the cash up front, to start it just takes $10,000 for the chassis, then the stages range from $700-10,000 as you go.
When its done it weighs about 2,100lbs and with a stock ls7 it does a 1/4 mile in 10.6 seconds and tops out at 222mph. Performance that I think is unmatched in any car sub $300,000.
Seems like it would be a fun project. They make other cars that get more and more track only and even have an offroad kit car. Superlite is a subdivision of race car replicas and seems to have a good reputation. Also would be a very unique head turner for sure.
Well I can dream at least.

I still like where Jim is going......I'll put the '16 Pilot on the line in a 1/4 and 1/2 mile track time/race..........unless Cam comes "up" in the spring or something and I get the Chevelle back on the road .....cranked it up a while back and have a bad miss in the engine, I think it is just a lifter that has collapsed or won't prime....will dig into it one day down the road, no rush and no worries right now/
For me, to start something like that....well I would need to add a garage so space and time would not get in the way....the one I have is getting too full of stuff already, so something like that would require a space that didn't get filled up with day to day issues

I think the MDX could take the pilot. She has some get up and go and has a nurburgring tuned suspension(I'm not kidding).
Yeah this is after I get out of the army and finish my masters degree and buy my forever home hopefully with ample garage space. But every time I see a Skyline for sale it makes me think boy it would be a lot easier and cheaper just to buy that. No where near the performance though.

Umm, sounds like time for "paper" racing
2016 Pilot Touring AWD 9 speed auto vs the MDX (forget the spec's)
Paper is better for me as it take the driver out.....poorman is getting old and slow
Now who has the time to look up the "online" spec's....0-60 and 1/4 mile....not me
You win

Yes, I've been impressed with my "mini van with doors that open"....I say that about my Pilot NOT the MDX.....I can admit it about the 2016 Pilot, all you have to do is look at pictures of the '16 Pilot compared to the Ody....pretty hard to tell them apart
The wife has been battling her illness, it seems to be winning , so I've been driving the '16 Pilot quite a bit here in the last few weeks. I can now "really" understand why she likes it so much. That also explains why I haven't been around here much in the last few weeks.
Anyway, another thread gone off topic , sorry about that. Hope everyone is doing well and has a good weekend.
