Default 07 accord- 200k miles, need struts?

My 07 accord VP 4 door is my daily driver and I put about 30k per year on it. It's just under 200k miles and the ride is getting a little rough, even with new tires. I'm thinking it's time to replace the front and rear struts (or are they shocks in the rear?). I hope to drive this car to 300k or more.

What is a good upgrade for struts? I don't want to spend a bunch of money and I don't need high performance, just good quality, good value replacements.

I've seen some posts recommending Koni sport struts, but they look more performance oriented then I need. I found KYB GR-2 at Tire Rack for about $81 each and Koni Str for $94 each. I also found Monroes at OReilly for $100 each or $149 for complete strut assembly (looks like comes with new springs already mounted).

Any input on what i should look for? Should I be replacing any other items at the same time (like strut mounts)?

Thanks!

I have found Honda shocks to be very long-lived. Some things to look for w/ worn out shocks are abrupt slam when dropping off an abrupt ledge of 1-2 inches, continued rolling or bouncing feel after going over smooth speed bumps (lack of dampening), severe bouncing on rough surface such as washboard road or railroad tracks.

There are numerous bushings in the shock stack that service manual says to "check for damage", but does not say replace. There is no mention of a bearing in the damper mounting base, however many mounts do have them and they can wear and become loose.

good luck

If they are struts, I get a price on Honda struts, 200,000 miles is a long time for strut, and if Honda last that long, they might be the way to go.

After have struts and a lot of the front suspension replaced on a 4 year Fiesta, I like hearing stories like this.

Let us know what you do.

Had to replace mine at 110k miles in the front. Right front strut had blown and the left front one was worn out from trying to control what the right one no longer could. Just went with an OEM level replacement at the time because the roads suck here. Pretty sure the shop used Monroe struts.

Had 280k miles on my 4th gen Accord, still had the original struts on that car, still felt really tight. Go figure.
