hello i swapped my summer tires to my winter tires today, i told the mechanic that my tires need to be balanced and the mechanic told me that my winter tires are not good, and there is no point balancing since they are worn out. He told me that he will just balance the front 2 tires. Is this true? if the tires are bad is it really unnecessary to balance them? i always prefer to balance them regardless because i don't want my steering wheel to shake either.

 

Are they worn out? Are they too old just by simple age? It would be nice if he told you WHY they were "not good". If it were me, I'd want to know WHY.

Tires get hard & slippery with age, even if the tread is not worn out. He might be trying to sell you a new set, or he might be honestly trying to warn you about the age of your tires.
