Well I am an 18 year old owner of a 2000 accord coupe ex-v6 3.0. its automatic as this trim does not come in standard. I honestly dont know a whole lot about cars but i figure i would take a shot at this. I wanted to know inexpensive ways to make my car faster. Its got decent pick up but kinda dissapoints me sometimes. So any ideas on how I can achive faster acceleration would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!

glad to know there''''s more than one 18 year old that owns an accord.  when it comes to performance it depends on what you''''re willling to spend. you''''ll probly get some decent amounts of perfromance from an after market intake and a new exhaust, cat back preferably. i also believe your particular engine can have headers put on it, some newer models have the exhaust manifolds welded right to the block. altogether a good intake can run between 100 and 300 and a good exhaust maybe around 500 to 800. headers im not sure. likely you might want to just start with the intake and then if you want more try a nice exhaust. try here a good place for you to find parts: http://tasauto.com/Product/Browse.aspx?h=1073

welll to be brutally honest when it comes to engine performance, hp is not cheap u may spen over 800$ and only get 10 -15 hp , when ur looking to get like 50 or more youd be spending well over $1500

Expanding on what clutch and tippman said, the best way to get started is a new intake.  Overpriced ones are $300, but you can just as easily buy a terrible one off ebay for $75 and slap on a K&N filter on it.  Smaller gains can be achieved by cleaning out your trunk, installing new spark plugs, cleaning engine, etc.

As far as the next step goes, nothing will really give you amazing gains, unless you''re really willing to spend alot of money.  Since you have the V6, you have two tailpipes, thus making an exhaust cost around $700 to $800.  If you''re willing to abandon two pipes and go for one, you''re looking at $400 to $500.  Headers for the V6 will also cost you about $300-$400.

And dont forget a huge spoiler and lots of decals!  The bigger the spoiler, the more hp, the faster your ride will be!

(Just kidding... )

After the Headers, Exhaust and CAI, what’s next?  I’ve done all the maintenance I can think of: full tune up, belts, hoses, fluids, distributer, plugs, even the seals around the spark plugs, EGR tube and cleanout and all motor mounts.

I do want to keep it running so no NOS or turbos.  I’m amazed at what you can do to an I4.  What else is made for us?

Thanks

Get a job, and get out of HS first before you even attempt this.

Also, it''s your mother''s car and unless you''re spoiled and she''s giving you the car when you turn 16, don''t even bother thinking to mod her car.

Cheapest mod that will improve throttle response:  Remove the intake resonator that is in your bumper and get a K&N oiled drop in filter.

Next cheapest:  Ebay/BOMZ SRI with a K&N oiled filter

Next:  Lightened crank pulley.  Underdriven or not.  I had the underdriven 3 pulley set and never had any issues.

*******************************************************

Cat-back:  The B-pipe is the biggest restriction.  I had thought of reducing to 1 muffler to improve low-rpm torque also, good idea.

Headers:  Good gain on the V6.  I/H/E/P will make the rpms rise and fall much quicker.  Not so much a peak HP/tq gain as a gain in the area under the curve ..... where your acceleration comes from.

After all of the above, buy my dyno-tuned V-AFC2 controller.  It was tuned for my 2000 V6 with I/H/E/P.  The biggest benefit of the controller is the VTEC control.  I had it set to engage at 3000 or 3200 and disengage at 2800 rpms.  In addition, whenever I hit the gas past 65% VTEC would engage regardless of the rpms.

An intake resonator is there to quiet the intake sound. But it''s cooler when you accelerate from the sound it makes, so I removed it.
