Hello,

I'm deciding to buy a I4 08 Accord Coupe Ex manual drive because it's $4800 cheaper and averages 5 mpg more than the v6
manual. However, I would like to eventually add a turbo kit or a supercharger that won't damage the engine's longevity. It would be great if the add-on won't affect the accord's warrantee. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!!

-Isaiah

-ps I realized that I might have wrongfully posted this message under Engine & Internal, so plz excuse me if you're seeing the same post!

We'll forgive you this time since your new  Next time if you accidentally post in the wrong section, just ask a mod to move it and we will do that for you.

To answer your question: I am pretty sure adding forced induction will totally void the warranty.  Also a turbo or supercharger will likely shorten the engine life.  A lot of that has to do with the way most people drive when they have a turbo...

Oh yeah: Welcome to the forum!

I honestly don't think that is a good idea. if you add a turbo or supercharger its going to void the warranty point blank. wouldn't it be smarter to spend the money you're going to use to get that accord to get something like a civic or scion or even a GTI,better on gas mileage and tuner friendly, and just tune it up with the money left over?and if you read the reviews on the 8th generation accords, they seem to be focused on competiting against other luxury cars like lexus and BMW and whatnot.besides the 8th generation looks like a heavy generation to me.and in my opinion and from my research,if you're looking for torque and power within the 8th generation,it would be smarter to just save up and get the V6,6 speed version. 268 Hp is not bad at all for an accord and with a manual in your hand, its like putting a 8 year old child in a candy store and say get whatever you want.

Buy the V-6 initially. You're going to void the warranty 100% and spend damn near $10K for a custom huffer setup along with tons and tons of custom tuning IF you can find a place qualified to do it. Also forget the 5 mpg advantage with forced induction and enjoy buying premium fuel only.

^ I agree....those are excellent points RtexasF.  Turbo will more than likely decrease the fuel economy to that of the V6(or worse), and you have to use premium after you turbo.  So you would wind up spending a lot more $ on a 4 cyl if you turboed it, then it would still probably be slower than the V6 and possibly get worse gas mileage to boot.

I assume you must be referring to the seating arrangements falkore.  I wouldn't think an S2000 would kill a 2008 V6 6spd too badly - but I could be wrong....

I think that you are very wrong Jon.

2008 AV6 sedan weighs 3567 lbs and has a max torque of 248.
2008 S2k weighs 2855 lbs and has a max torque of 162.

If you compare lbs weight per ft.lb. torque you will see that the S2k has 22.5% more torque per lb of car.  Not to mention that it has 245 rear tires and RWD to get that all to the ground.

Thanks guys for your advice. They really helped a lot! But what if I get a tsx comptech supercharger instead of a turbo? Would it work and come out to be < $27,000 for a $21000 coupe?

The real question is what you are trying to achieve.  First, you want to get the 4 cylinder to save $4800 and get 5 mpg better economy.  Now you want to spend more on the 4 cylinder plus SC then the V6 stock.  The SC kit will have larger fuel injectors and a new ecu tune, so the 4 banger will suck down more gas than the V6.  If you just want to go with the most power and acceleration, a built 4 with a high pressure turbo or a V6 with a supercharger or turbo are the ways to go.  Forced induction requires a lot of reading and research.

You'll still have to use premium gas.
I thought Comptech went bankrupt?
