Hey guys, I've got an '08 Accord EX-L 4-cyl and was thinking about putting a Memphis M3 12" in a sealed box with a Memphis 1000D amd and running everything else stock. The system sounds pretty good already, but it needs a little more bump. What do you think? You think I should go with a Memphis MOJO 12" instead? I know the old MOJO's used to be specifically for SPL but I've heard they've gotten a little better about SQ. Plus, I'm not sure how much sound deadener lies behind those back seats. Thanks!

Do you plan to use the same amp? Look into Mach 5 audio, they have some good stuff at great prices, but there's so many companies out there, that there really are no limits. Are you also looking for something that won't take up much space as well?

I'd use the same amp. However, if I got the MOJO I would go with a ported enclosure since it would require a little less power. If I did the M3, I would use a sealed enclosure. I talked to my installer and he talked with a Memphis rep and said that the MOJO would be a little underpowered for a sealed box but would fine with a ported box. The sealed and ported boxes I'm looking at are about the same size but I want to keep them both pretty small. Thanks for the advice on audio but I've been a Memphis man since I was about 14. Their equipment is so strong and reliable that I don't think I could ever run anything else!

1000 watts to a Memphis 12 and a stock system up front?!?! SQ cant be much of a priority and Memphis is a SPL brand so that should work pretty well and be loud.

That is a lot of bass for a stock system. How good is the 8th gens stock system or are you just a bass head?

I'm not a bass head and Memphis is, despite what everyone says, a great sound quality audio manufacturer. I've never ran anything but Memphis. They are crisp, clear, and punchy subs that perform excellently. I'd use them over Alpine, JL, Rockford, etc. anyday. By the way, every amp has a gain control, right? :) It only has to be as loud as you want it. My Accord has the 270 watt 7-speaker system and it sounds great. It just needs a little more bass than the stock sub can provide. The highs and mids are crisp and clean, it just needs a little more punch.

If you plan to also keep the stock fronts, put an amp on the speakers and it surely will help compensate for the bass. I had an RF Punch 500a2 on 6 speakers (ghetto i know but it got incredily loud and if I had a sub it would have kept up fine). Imaging wasn't there, but I wasn't worried about it at the time.

The amp can get to 100% output with the gains set to a minimum if you have 5v preouts. If you want to turn the bass down you need to turn the bass boost down at the amp, or the bass or sub control from your headunit.

I know, but the stereo doesn't have high-volt preouts. If the gain control is used to match the input level from the source at the discretion of the user, why can't I place it where I please?
