LSStrongman -> Where to buy detailing stuff: wax, clay, and ect.. (6/11/2008 8:39:56 PM)

Do you guys know where to buy waxes, clay bars, tire cleaner, and other stuff for cheap. I know autozone and places liek that have stuff. I am just wondering if I could get that same stuff for cheaper somewhere else?

Wal-Mart.  Any automotive store will be way more than Wally world unless they have an excellent deal.  However, Meijer (if you have any) has some really good deals every once n awhile.

Go to Big Lots. The products change often but there are some real bargains to be had. I''ve never seen detailing clay but certainly that could vary by store.

I am boycotting AutoZone, and think everyone else here should do the same... Stick to O''Rielly or some other shop you might have around, but screw VatoZone...

And yeah I agree, walmart is way cheaper - I buy just about everything there.

What happened with Autozone?

I have a Strauss and a small place called 002 nearby.  002 is great for parts and Strauss is ok for most stuff, but I buy my good stuff online.  Wet Paint, IBIZ wax, Luso Oro .... next I plan to give Zaino Brothers a shot.  I saw an xB at a meet a couple weeks ago that was friggen sick!!!  The owner told me that he does a 15 step process once a year and just washes and details it!

Zaino is fine as long as your willing to do the prep work .. otherwise its a waste of time..

Almost everything with detailing is dependant on the prep work.  I currently have new interior parts that need wetsanding and I''m going to tint my tail lights and TBL .... alll need lots of prep ..... I tend to do things the hardest way possible, so I''m not afraid of a little prep.

Also, the finish on that xB was incredible!  He said it takes 1 7.5 hour day out of a year, then just wash and detail.

If he spends 7.5 hours on it once a year then he has a garage queen .. its just not that simple .. In the spring I can put in as much as 20 hours just polishing in prep for the Zaino .. I have used it for 4 years on a daily driver. Zaino is very  unforgiving as far as amplifying swirling etc. It has no filling ability at all.

This is in the area of 8 layers of Z2 topped with #16.

Wal-Mart actually has a good selection of Mother''s products including the clay bar, paint prep, etc.

i go to walmart. I was thinking of buying a mothers claybar there ($14), but then my gas light turned on and I realized I have no job.

anyway, wal-mart is usually the cheapest and they typically have a fairly extensive detailing section.

I didnt think any body around here would even know about #16. I use that on my truck. Hard to find since it was discontinued a few years ago.
