importedminds -> compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/18/2008 7:33:12 PM)

ok, so i am looking to turbo my car, 96 accord lx , 2.2 non vtec f22b2  5 speed, odometer shows 197,xxx , but by the way it drives i figure maybe not original engine, so i did a compression test to see how it was running, this is what i got,

180 ,  187 ,  180  , 190,  thats from left to right looking at the engine, i believe 4,3,2,1  ...what do you guys think, also please see my post in general tech help, i believe there may be a small piece of porcelen in the cylinder from a broken plug, could this be a problem???

good compression... about the piece of porcelain... take it out... it is a big issue!

If there was a piece of porcelain in there, you''d know it.

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/19/2008 11:45:21 AM)

your running the car??? I thought it was "under-construction"... then Blk is right...

importedminds -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/19/2008 3:48:47 PM)

oh it definatly under major construction, but still a driver, anyways, i am guessing there is no procelin in there as i drove the car today to and from work, about 45 minutes, and she''s running just fine, although i am still getting some oil in the plugs even after a vavle cover gasket change, hmmm, anyways, so this is good compression?? so any other tests i can do before deciding to turbo this engine, as i said it runs really strong, my friend has an 01 civic d17 w/ aem cai, and spoon headers and skunk 2 exhaust and i walk him everytime, but he is not a great driver, anyways , i really feel this is not the original engine, and has alot less miles than odometer is reading, any info on help or tests i can do to fully determine the age and condition of my engine is definatly appreaciated, thanks guys

nafango2 -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/19/2008 10:39:55 PM)

you want to turbo it?
knock yourself out. If the engine starts to burn oil like a mother, you can always swap in a JDM and just hook up the turbo to that.

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/20/2008 12:20:43 PM)

can''t you just call the guy/gal you purchased your car from and ask him/her what change he/she made? or call the dealer if that''s the case...
also check the engine # and see if it matches your vehicle... (police do that to check for stolen engines)

importedminds -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/20/2008 3:21:33 PM)

no, can''t find the number of the guy i bought it from, where can i find engine numbers?

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/24/2008 11:14:40 AM)

let me check on my car and I''ll let u know

importedminds -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/24/2008 4:04:22 PM)

thanks kevin i appreaciate it

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/25/2008 9:35:29 AM)

alright, i haven''t seen my car yet since my g/f has it, but I checked w/ my neighbor, who happens to be a sargent cop and works in a section of stolen vehicles and he told me that if you go to one of those places they check the VIN # and they tell you if your car has swaped engine... bad thing is, if it does and it''s not registered... say bye bye to your car dude... they''ll take it

importedminds -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/25/2008 3:26:47 PM)

then nevermind, haha, no way am i gonna risk losing my car, thanks though

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/26/2008 11:05:41 AM)

i know dude! but the # should be in the block. close to the header. to your right. (Im trying to search my brain for all this info.) let me know if you find it

importedminds -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/28/2008 7:44:13 AM)

yes i found some numbers right below the header on the block 2 sets of numbers actually, i can make out all numbers except the last one

KevinAccord -> RE: compression test results , thinking of turbo (6/30/2008 8:14:29 AM)
