Uh... why is the spring not sitting in the perch in the second pic. To adjust them you just turn the bottom (threaded) part with the wrench that should have come with them.

i currently have the car jacked up trying figure out the tanns pan leak, and happened to notice them. also i didn''t get a wrench with the car. i''m lucky i got the lug nut tool

Oh, yeah you can get the wrenchs online and what not or try twiting them with your hand. shouldn''t be too difficult with no pressure on the spring.

Or you can take a chisel, put it in one of the slots and tap it with a hammer to loosen or tighten the sleeves. Thats how i do mine so i know theyre snug

No .... the 2 plates are the spring perch and the locking plate for it.  They have to be tightened together, but to adjust your height, you loosen the locking plate, adjust the perch and tighten the locking plate to the perch in it''s new position.

The tools are called "Spanner Wrenches" in case you plan on buying a set.

J_man:  A chisel is fine to lock the perch in place or to loosen a really tight perch, but I''d prefer the wrenches for most of the adjustment so you don''t put so much pressure on the shock sideways.
