New guy, old accord - 7/16/2008 5:18:01 PM    thegrowth90210   Posts: 2 Joined: 7/16/2008 Status: offline Hi there every1, new to the forum, first honda, i recently picked up an 81 accord hatchback 2-door, 5 speed with 170,000 miles on it for 800, new trans, clutch, thermo, tune up, only problem, previous owner told me the carb needs to be rebuilt due to the fact that it cannot hold an idle and backfires a bit, after purchasing i learned that this could also be the timing belt and could be a costly repair, if so, i may think about a new engine, im just wondering what motors are compatible for a direct swap, and looking for any insight into my idle/backfire issue Post #: 1
