haha. yeah its my favorite thing to tell people and theyre like. wtf is that. lol question: so as im seeing through sublime when it comes to turbos and boost controllers how does that work? how do you pick the turbo and what does the controller do?

KevinAccord -> RE: Turboing a 1994 acoord (7/28/2008 4:26:18 AM)

you just pick the right size for your car. which means that it would be one with a smaller exhaust ''snail'' (as we call it here) and a bigger intake ''snail''. A t3/t4 hybrid bb (ball bearing) will be great for you. A boost controller just let''s you adjust the amount of boost you want your car to produce.

KevinAccord -> RE: Turboing a 1994 acoord (7/28/2008 4:29:18 AM)

remember that the spring on your wastegate will also determine the amount of minimum boost you can have. so if you have a 7psi spring, don''''t expect lower psi than that. A boost controller is good, but just don''''t put it inside your car. know why? cause you will race someone and they will beat you, and next thing you know you will want to add +5 psi to beat him and gonna break your engine... IMO it''''s better under the hood.

EDIT: Im not post whoring, is that I can''t write much because it gets erased...

unless he has self control, then he can still put the controller inside...lol!!!..OR his engine can tolerate high boost..then he can too=))=P

hmm. interesting something for me to look into. well i just got my car done today and im impresssed it runs stronger and quieter. also my compression test came back as 205,200,195, and 205. hows that

Compression #s are good.

Look up "boost controller", "wastegate", "blow off valve", "turbo AR" and "Turbo trim" on Wikipedia and/or Google for a good start.

how close to stock spec. are these definitely good enough for boost? maybe a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best. thanks :]

would a turbo off an old dodge daytona serve me at all for my car? its manufactured by mitsubishi but would it work well for my car?

blinkz0rz -> RE: Turboing a 1994 acoord (8/17/2008 10:03:26 PM)

Well what is the turbo from the Daytona? If you can get it it to fit without much customization then yes, you should be able to. If anything, you would need a kit to make sure everything runs good and reliable on the engine.

There''''s more work to installing a turbo than just throwing it onto the exhaust manifold and having more horsepower.

Tuning is the most crucial thing for Turbos. If you can properly tune an engine with a turbo, you don''t have to build the bottom end necessarily. HondaTuning did a 500hp setup on a B16A with only installing new pistons, and tuned it extensively to handle 24lbs of boost.
