From driving it, I wouldn''t really classify it as a minivan.  I think the size of the MDX is overkill and I actually hate seeing a single person driving a road tank with no purpose.  For that matter, suburbans should be illegal for anyone with less than 3 children, IMO.

FX35 is pretty big inside.  I can''t see it being too small unless you are breeding a small army.

2nd gen MDX vs. 3rd gen MDX = 2nd gen FTW! I drove around an ''08 MDX for a while when our navi was getting replaced. They''re nice but the styling is weird... it''s not as friendly as our 04. Best part was the slap stick tiptronic transmission, sucker went 80 in 2ng gear :D

^^^  LOL, nice to see that you are treating the loaner properly!!!  I''ve never been in a 3rd gen one, but I like the 2nd gen''s looks more too.

I have the same redline, but a tighter gear ratio.  Around 6400 is fuel cutoff.  That''s some of the reason behind the head build .... stretch out all the gears.

I''ll bet most don''t even use the tiptronic, including my wife and I, I think it''s a big waste in a SUV.

IMO, it''s a waste in any automatic.  If you want to shift, get a manual.  Most auto''s have optimized shift points anyway ..... except the maxima.

Big waste? Yes. Fun? Yes! I think tiptronic is pointless across the line... the only way I''m a going to be shifting without a clutch pedal is paddle shifters and a sequential manual gearbox.

Sequential still needs a clutch for 1st gear and reverse.

On the mini-formula car that my buddy has from school, the clutch is a hand lever behind the steering wheel.  Good thing that you don''t need it for gear changes!  Also, that doesn''t have reverse ..... CBR 600RR powertrain

Back on topic, I would find used models at nearby dealers and test drive them. I still think your best bet is the MDX for reliability and luxury. GM even liked the engine so much they rebadged them L66 and put them in the Saturn VUE.
