Which headers?

19Accord97 -> Which headers? (4/15/2006 4:40:52 PM)

I am planning on getting headers soon and wondered which of these would be the best horsepower + quality wise. I dont really drive hard so Im looking for more power in the lower RPM's. I've also seen some that say "not for highway use" why is that? Should I get a high flow cat as well? (I'm going to be puttin an Apexi WS 2 catback on.)

Ive worked with OBX products before and they stand up for their products, most of there products have been tested with a dyno and a lot of other companies don't even have a dyno to test products..

Out of the three header products I give a [sm=smiley20.gif]

Alright, i'll be getting those when I get the $$! Thanks for your help and recommendation! [:D]

I'm going to 2nd the OBX brand name. They really seem to be driven on providing products that cost less but provide actual performance gains.

I've also seen a lot of fixed up hondas with the megans, but I'd shoot for the OBX.

Alright, well OBX it is:) Thanks for the help! Do you guys have any tips when I put the headers on and is there anything thats in the way that needs to be removed when I install them? thnx!

mbo1985 -> RE: Which headers? (4/16/2006 8:42:42 PM)

You may want to pick up another manifold gasket if the headers don't come with one. Other than that, it's not too hard at all to install them.

tsblckcord -> RE: Which headers? (5/29/2006 12:51:28 PM)

Anyone know the major differences in the OBX stainless steel and the OBX ceraic header? Ive heard just color and heat factors. Also has anyone had problems with their OBX header or headers getting too hot. Just wondering if it is worth the money to just go with the DC Sport or not.

19Accord97 -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 1:24:35 AM)

tsblckcord, If I am not mistaken ceramic headers weigh less than stainless steel and prevent more heat from transfering through the pipes to the engine bay. I may be wrong though. As for OBX headers I have bought the stainless steel ones and they are in my room waiting to be installed when I get my exhaust. Good luck

tom15425 -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 1:47:20 AM)

Also, I believe most ceramic coated headers are made with mild steel instead of stainless hence, less expensive.

I perfer stainless myself, but others will differ in opinion. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with either and I doubt engine bay heat will be a big issue. Good luck on your decision.

BostonPuppyDawg -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 1:46:55 PM)

Anybody see themselves buying locking header bolts? and any trouble taking the old header bolts out? any tips on that like soaking them in pb blaster for a while before pursuing? I plan on upgrading my exhaust system in the future...

tom15425 -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 5:09:40 PM)

My stock exhaust (55kish miles on the car), was really tough to get off. Your on the right track. I would recommend spraying all the bolts you'll be working with down with liquid wrench the day before, then spraying them again before you try to take the bolts off.

sir_nasty -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 5:49:03 PM)

I'd back up tom 100% on that... hose them suckers down the day before and then again before you start the project and you will enjoy life a lot more and have less skin missing off your knuckles from when the wrench slips off...

19Accord97 -> RE: Which headers? (5/30/2006 10:27:01 PM)

I would agree with tom and sir nasty. I have been spraying all the bolts besides the cat converter with liquid wrench for the past week.

Oh yeah, one quick question for you guys. I just put in my new plugs and wires and noticed one of my exhaust manifold studs have been broken off (the far right one). When the car was running I couldnt feel any exhaust escaping but it was black around there. I was jw, if Advance auto parts or autozone would have the right stud that is quality and if its hard to replace? thanks!

acidflux -> RE: Which headers? (10/17/2006 7:56:25 PM)

hey guys i read through this thread.. so far OBX hasnt gotten anything bad.
my DC sports header has a crack and is gettign bigger, i need a decent and semi cheap replacement.
So far from the point this thread ws started til now.. has any1 experienced any problems with the OBX's or they are pretty much the best for the price?

lewfx -> RE: Which headers? (10/17/2006 8:49:59 PM)
