My check engine light came on yesterday and hasn't gone off. I have an appointment at my local Honda dealer tomorrow. I have a 2000 EX and would like to know what it could be? If anyone has any insight into why the light would be coming on, I'd like to know. The only thing I notice is you have to give it more gas to excelerate. What could this be?

Thanks in advance!
Jane

It could be a few things.... Without knowing the code then based on what you said about having to use more gas to accelerate it could be something as simple as not having the gas cap screwed on all the way (if it's loose it will give you a code) or an O2 sensor or Mass Air Flow sensor....

go to Autozone and have them read the code and post it here,,, they will do it for free,, if you go to dealer they will charge you 60-80 dollars just to read the code ..
And like Sir said it could be a # of things,, ,,if you post the code here it will give us more of an idea which system might be failing..

Thanks for the info, I'm going there after work, I'll post later. I just didn't want to get ripped off at the dealer.

I went to Auto Zone and they said it was something in my fuel line. How costly are the repairs and would I be safe taking to a repair shop other than the Honda dealer?
