I just bought mine 02 Accord EX V6 and went on a road trip the next day. I averaged (on the first refill - with cruise control on) after 300 miles 28mpg.. which is what EPA said it would. After that on my return trip, i averaged 27mpg. Off course I had to climb steeps hills and stuff. It wasn't a straight drive.

I haven't calculated city driving yet. But I will on the next refill.

4 cy getting 25? hmm, fishy I say

again not to sound pompus but our gas prices really arent that bad compared to the rest of the world. Hondas are some of the best MPGs on the road. these "tips and tricks" only increase your effeciency by a couple of mpgs, what are you really saving? 5 bucks? im not advocating the wasting of gas, but im not going to roll up my windows when i reach speeds over 35mph just to save a few pennies.

With all that said these are some good solutions for someone on a budget. Something i like to do to soften the blow of gas prices is fill up at half, that way its only a 20 spot or so, as opposed to the 40 or so dollars to fill up from dry. i get about 300 miles per tank city driving as opposed to my buddy who has a 300C gets something like 180 per tank. Depending on his driving habits he fills up several times per week, i fill up only once per week

it was proven on mythbusters, although it was with a V8 Expedition, that the windows down hurt the gas mileage more than windows up/AC on

yea but you look cooler with the windows down. thats why i want to live somewhere where its summer all the time.

Question, why have the 20% tint if you are going to roll the windows down?

I agree with Roger B34, check the tire pressure. And oil level. I had a Mazda 626 that when the oil level was low the MPG decreased 1-2 MPG.
Also, in the winter the fuel economy will decrease due to the colder denser air (needs more fuel to be stoichiometric), longer time on fast idle, and a decrease in tire pressure.

Yes to so many of these suggestions- especially "not a toolbox/storage unit" and twenty bucks gas. Both reduce weight which is the greatest free milage booster there is. If you don't need to go 300 miles today, why carry all that fuel unnecessarily?
Do any of the stylized body kits increase aerodynamics of the accord? Or would the extra weight suck it up? I'm mostly thinking of the front air dams.

Instead of filling up 20 bucks at half, why not fill up 20 bucks from when the fuel light comes on?This will save you from carrying about 40 lbs of gas with you!!!

Just one week into ownership and i'm getting between 17.5-21.4 MPG on my 03 V6 Automatic. I use only premium fuel and the previous owner (my friend) used Mobil 1 full synthetic on my recommendation. I drive pretty spirited and do a 70/30% split of city/highway. I'm thrilled with the mileage which is a far cry better than the 11 MPG I was getting with the 07 M45 the Honda replaced.

Wheelman: Stop using premium. You will get more power from regular and also save about $0.20 per gallon. Trust me .... or search for my other posts on this topic for more info.

Plus premium probably gets you worse gas mileage. It may even harm the engine since your engine was made to run off of regular.

Nah, it won't hurt anything .... maybe shorten the life of the cat from more fuel burning off on it.
