Would you have any idea on some kind of price stuff like that could range into at dealership? I have 1 friend who says he can do wiring harnesses.. he said hes real patient with it all, which im not..

Since it's only the lights acting up would it be the dash/lights/radio, etc harness? How would I know the exact harness to find and buy?

What types of tips would you give if going to do this on my own or with friends help, anything in particular?

Thanks for the help

The harness that comes from the blue plug, on driver side.. it curves up and over the fuse box, then above what i THINK is a cruise control box (metal/rectangular) then it curves up and goes across behind a flemsy plastic piece. will i be able to access the wiring if i remove the gauge cluster? seems to be the spot

i know exactly which wires are the problem now.. the red/black (parking/tail lights) is crossed with the passenger side blinker (green with some stripe im pretty sure) and ive seen it/peeled them apart. nothing else is a problem right now, other than.. when no lights are on, and you use passenger side blinker, it flashes everything (because it's crossed with red/black which controls tails/parking/dash gauges) so then, when lights are ON (red/black) hot.. the blinker bulb/arrow on gauge are constant on since the red/black is giving the green, etc power constantly instead of a flashing period.

those would be the symtpoms of the parking light wire being crossed with a turn signal wire, sound correct?

Sorry I'm not quite sure where it goes to from there, in this case just removing the dash might make a huge difference.... I've been out having surgery for a week but from the conversation I assume that just prior to this problem you got the tail lights working properly? what was the fix?

where the red/black was constant hot, when not supposed to be, it was crossed with the red/green somehow.. so i cut the red/green and ran a new power source going to the combo switch. everything worked fine then, i just made it so the old green red wasn't hot, by pulling the fuse.. and the red/black is now only hot when the combo switch is used to turn it on. my only problem.. forgot to use an inline fuse on that new power, so then when this all happened.. the red/black fried, taking other wires with it :( fuse would have prevented it.

After this I'd rip out that dash and make a rally car *L* Got that inline fuse in there now?

After I fix this, or think it's fixed with lights working properly.. would the inline fuses protect the frying of wires/chance of fire in the case of a burnt spot that i missed ever coming in contact with metal and causing an arc? that is what causes an overload and blows fuses correct? i ask because tomorrow.. im going to peel away the stuck wires as far as i can, and install the inline fuses and hook the power back up because i have to go somewhere after dark. all of the 'bad' spots i have uncovered from tape/loom will be sealed with heatshrink, but beyond that, some wire could still be melted together causing turn signal to come on constant with tail lights.. that is a nuisance, but hazard only if wires touch metal and NO fuse right?

if you put an inline fuse in make sure that it is the same amp rating as the fusebox was (15 amp if I recall) and that should protect you in case of an arc it'll just blow the fuse

installed the in-line fuse (15 amp was correct) and I'm now able to drive at night again.. Still gradually going to trace the wire all the way through, just from here on out I have to remove gauge cluster/radio bezel. Then I'm going to heatshrink the whole thing.. and other sections of any other wires that got harmed in sections. Once that's all done, wire loom it up best I can.. hopefully I find all the spots where the passenger side turn signal is crossed with parking light. thanks for the help!
