Carfax is not reliable at all for reporting accidents. Now they only report "major accidents" How do I know this you ask? I have a 2002 Acura CL type S that Carfax stated it was accident free "no problems found" and my insurance agent told me that it was involved in 2 accidents one within 2 weeks of the car being bought and the other one about 6 months before I bought it.
