i have a 1996 accord and the speedometer only works some of the time. someone suggested that it was a problem between the ecua and the speedometer.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks

I actually have that same problem. About 3 months ago, my speedometer just failed on me, and it will stay at around 20MPH when its not working. It's definitely something with the speedo and the ECU, unfortunately new speedos are expensive and I have a feeling thats not whats causing the problem since it does work some of the time.

Sounds like an ECU problem to me, guage clusters are all mechanical and told what to do by the ECU.

My speedo on my 96 Accord is doing the same thing. And I just got a 75.00 ticket for it not working! Anybody come up with a solution?

If your cruise control works when the speedometer fails, then the speedometer has an electrical fault.

You can remove the gauge cluster and take it apart.  You can ship the speedometer to a speedometer repair shop to have it fixed.  That way the mileage on your odometer is accurate.  I think that I spent ~$120 to have mine repaired.

94-97 accord speedo staying around 20mph, the speedo head is bad.

TO those saying the ecu could be the problem: WRONG!!!
