how much psi

i wasdoing sum research on turboing a f23 and i was reading in honda tech that you can run up to 17 psi without doing nothing internal in any f series block just to put head studs. wat do you guys think

I have heard the max is 8psi though I could be thinking of a different block

yeah i herd that too actually heard it safe from 8 to 10 psi

tom15425 -> RE: how much psi (10/28/2006 2:04:02 AM)

I'd run 8 to be safe. To run higher boost like that I'd think you would need at least valve springs, retainers, forged pistons, and rods as far as internals go. 17psi is a good amount so, there may be more you'd need to do that I'm not aware of. You would probably have to drop your compression and what not.

ive heard claims of running 17psi on f22's with no problems, but im sure its not for long

a safe amount is 7 to 8 psi but even at that point if you have old rings they will go out so rings would be a needed upgrade regardless

YeuEmMaiMai -> RE: how much psi (10/30/2006 3:49:26 AM)

7-8 PSI if you want a reliable daily driver....go much above that and you will be needing new rings and valve train components....not to mention forged internals

2002haccord -> RE: how much psi (10/30/2006 3:19:53 PM)

yeah thats wat i heard

sir_nasty -> RE: how much psi (10/30/2006 3:46:33 PM)

I'll back up the 8 psi statement.... but even at 6 psi if you wanted to be REALLY safe you're going to gain a tremendous amount of horsepower.... I think if memory serves right an f22 with 8 psi turbo is calculated to put out 210-225 hp? so do 4 psi, run that for a while and you'll have a blast, when it gets a bit "normal" feeling then kick up to 6 psi, then again to 8 psi later and keep yourself entertained while you save the cash for the huge upgrade

As far as the head studs go, for f23 engine the stock head bolts are stronger the ARP studs. Iv'e boost'd up to 18psi and had no problem, but my engine is built. But normal boost for me is 12-13.

wat kind of internal work have u done in your engine

SKHEMR -> RE: how much psi (10/31/2006 7:27:17 PM)

87.5mm arias pistons
crower rods
block re sleeved
valves,springs,port&polish
The works!!!

2002haccord -> RE: how much psi (10/31/2006 7:35:56 PM)

how much did u spend to beef up the internals

SKHEMR -> RE: how much psi (10/31/2006 9:05:37 PM)

To damn much

SKHEMR -> RE: how much psi (10/31/2006 9:08:57 PM)

About $7000 the first time, the piston blow so now it's in the shop again and so far it's cost me about $2400. It was $1875 to get the block re sleeved new piston and to have the heads re decked.

go to search and type in bad pistons to see the pictures.
