reason that the stock shocks will fail has to do with height of the springs. shocks are designed to operate in a certain range and when you low the car, you are moving the struts (in the case of an accord) out of this range and it cause the internal valves and seals to fail. After market shocks are designed to work in a wider range or a specific range that was designed into the lowering kit.
