That sound like your O2 sensor. I think bucking is one of the symptoms for a bad O2 sensor. I think it costs $50 for the direct fit Denso or Ntk ones from sparkplugs.com. If it hasnt been changed in a while it might be a good idea to do so. Good luck!

Also i think the method to check the codes are to connect a jumper cable to the loose wire that doesnt connect to anything under the passenger glove compartment. once connected, you turn the ignition to the on position (do not start the car) and the check engine light will flash the codes. Google it and i think you can get a better idea for the codes.

Thats one thing I forgot to mention: it isnt throwing a CEL. It was for a while, but after I cleaned the EGR ports the first time and reset the ECU, it hasnt lit up since (about three weeks, I guess).

The Denso o2 sensor from sparkplugs.com is $76, I'll probably spring for it after the holidays, I just dont want to be a part-swapper, I want to actually know what the problem is before I start buying stuff that doesnt fix it.
