spring install difficulty - 11/23/2006 7:28:22 PM    poser_pilot6 Posts: 1036 Joined: 11/2/2006 Status: offline How hard is it to install new lowering springs and struts? Im looking at a ~1.5 inch drop, but I dont know if its going to be something I can do myself. Apparently you can rent a bay with a lift and a huge supply of tools for like $4 an hour or something crazy like that. This is what I hear, anyhow. I'm not sure what it costs to rent a bay but you are right about the tools and such. A friend of mine went to the one at WPAFB and he is not really mechanically inclined but the guys there helped him do stuff that he was having trouble with. I'm pretty sure that the personal that work there are ASE certified mechanics and their there to help you so if you do run into trouble they'll bail you out! I catch on to things pretty quick, and Im real good at reading and following directions lol. RE: spring install difficulty - 11/24/2006 2:21:31 AM    trukid21 Posts: 171 Joined: 5/16/2006 Status: offline i just did mine this past weekend in a hobby shop, if your suspension setup is like my 96'accord, this is how i did mine,for the front one (the fork)type you do not need to remove your stabilizer bar to remove the whole strut.just loosen the screw from the back of the fork and lower the whole wheel assembly the shocks with release from the fork,then you can remove the strut assembly. for the rear,you have to remove the brake caliper to drop down the strut assembly.the manual never mentioned that for my car. so hopefully this would help you out,that is if your suspension setup is like mine. also don't forget to buy camber kit.i have to get one for my rear side and i only dropped it 1.2. As of now I am going with Tein s-techs and either tokico blues or kyb gr-2s. What setup did you install? Also do you know if their is any difference of suspension components between non-vtec and vtec since ive seen auctions for blues but they exclude vtec. Also how long did the installation take you with what tools? Im only going to be using hand tools. THanks! (in reply to trukid21) Post #: 8
