nos system

94coupeaccord -> nos system (11/27/2006 2:42:49 AM)

I'm planning on installing a nos system on my 94 accord but I don't know which kit is better the dry kit or the wet kit? With which kit will my engine last longer and I don't want to blow up my engine on the first try.

19Accord97 -> RE: nos system (11/27/2006 9:06:35 PM)

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but I think the wet system is more safe. And I think the average is a 50 or 75 shot.

I dont know which is better, wet or dry, but 19Accord97 is correct. On a stock engine, you really should stick with a 50 shot of nitrous, 75 at most. I wouldnt go any higher than that on stock internals, especially if you are high mileage (and with a 94, you probably are, I know I am lol). Also keep in mind that you dont want to be using the nitrous repeatedly, keep it to a minimum and you will keep your engine running longer.

ya wet is the safer of the 2.and u can run 20 shot of nos to each cylinder. since im sure u have the 4 cylinder u could run 75 safely but anymore and ur goin to have to change out ur internals and wut not. and nos shouldnt be used mroe then a few seconds. its also safer to run it on wide open throttle

legionofone -> RE: nos system (11/28/2006 12:08:45 PM)

wet is not safer... let me explain

dry- strait into the intake and is divided into the cylinders by your manifold... this is VERY safe at low shots because it doesent contain fuel in the vapor... not good for Direct Port Injection

Wet- This is ONLY good to be used with a direct port injection system... the reason engines blow up (other than shattering a piston) is that in a Wet system mounted in your intake... there is a chance that the fuel can pool in the manifold and any sort of back fire or even if it just gets realy hot... it can explode...

the higher the shot the more advanced the system needs to be...

and NEVER use N20 for more than 5-6 seconds at a time... and NEVER at any other throttle position than WOT

personaly i wouldent run more than a 50 shot to protect your engine... 75 is pushing it on stock internals

How much power gain with a 50 shot nos?

02BlueAccord -> RE: nos system (12/5/2006 2:09:58 PM)

with a 50 shot of nos u will get 50 horsepower gain for that few seconds u use it.

marbro -> RE: nos system (12/5/2006 6:04:35 PM)

give or take a few hp

02BlueAccord -> RE: nos system (12/6/2006 5:17:48 PM)

ya but right around 50hp.

zexkid37 -> RE: nos system (1/14/2007 5:34:18 PM)

I had a zexkit on my 92 accord and ran 65 shots all day.  no matter which kit you choose (wet or dry) I would recomend a set of zex plugs.  I ran stock timing, with no problems for 80k+ miles.  Did you already choose a kit ?

accord2k -> RE: nos system (1/21/2007 5:29:21 PM)

From what i have read NX is the best kit, b/c zex rates their hp to the crank and not the wheel. And everyone I have ever talked to says the next time they will buy NX, with the whole zex plugs most of the people that have them say they are over rated.

marbro -> RE: nos system (1/21/2007 10:03:02 PM)

basically run an unmodified ignition system with basic ngk coppers,   you dont want too much spark when running the bottle

zexkid37 -> RE: nos system (1/22/2007 8:47:49 AM)

The difference between zex plugs and an ordinary plug is in the size of the ground strap.  A regular plugs' ground strap has more surface area on them in comparison to a zex plug.  The zexkit is a very easy install, on a 4 gen I would recommend placing the unit on the firewall behind the throttle body. I haven't used a nx kit before but have heard good things about them, I tend not to render an opinion on something if I haven't actually used the product before, never the less, nitrous is addicting...  What are the rates/lb for nitrous where you guys are?  Marbro you definitely want to have a strong spark to ensure that you are getting a complete burn.A basic ngk copper plug will turn into a glow plug in seconds running on the bottle and cause premature combustion or run the risk of the ground strap seperating from the plug all together.

I have a friend who was running a zex kit on his grand am,    when he ran iridium plugs he blew multiple valves because of premature detination, he never had a problem running coppers

???Blew multiple valves???Don't even know what that means! a "friend" w/ a Grand Am, let me guess I should just trust you too....And I'm assuming you wanted to say detonation.
