replacing a few things...need help - 2/13/2007 4:22:12 PM    01Accord Posts: 60 Joined: 1/10/2007 Status: offline ok, so first off, i would like to replace the break system on my 01 accord 4cy ex. i want slotted rotors, i hear they help dramatically and also look great. what do i need and what brands should i look for? also want to replace the sparkplugs...and suggestions on what kinds you prefer, or personal expierence. for now i need help with making those 2 decisions. im going to be under the car next weekend installing new headlights and figure i might as well do a few more thinsgs... thanks for the help in advance :D _____________________________ 2004 Accord LX Manual *Aftermarket Moonroof *20% Tint All around Post #: 1

By themselves you really wont notice much difference but I used them with Hawk brake pads and stainless steel braided lines.What a difference! As far as spark plugs go I like NGK but everyone has there favorites. I would just go to the local parts store and see what they have. With a stock ignition system they will all perform about the same. (in reply to live2rice) Post #: 3

RE: replacing a few things...need help - 2/13/2007 6:51:02 PM    sir_nasty Posts: 6309 Joined: 2/23/2006 Status: offline brakes: cross drilled rotors (unless they are forged that way instead of drilled) don't give you much (if any) help over slotted.  Not to mention some possible issues with cracking down the road (under race conditions).  I'd stick with what jason said, power slot rotors and Hawk pads (hawk HP plus are not what you are looking for, those are a race pad, just Hawk, or hawk hp pads) and stainless lines will make a big difference in high speed stopping.  Spark plugs: NGK only, Bosch are crap for honda's, stock ignition system get standard NGK's or you can get the iridium NGK's if you like they help a bit.... So here's my list Rotors: Power Slot (Brembo) Pads: Hawk or Hawk HP (not HP Plus) Braided Stainless Steel brake lines (use whoever as long as they are quality) Plugs: NGK, whatever flavor you like (Never bosch in a honda) that's a pretty nice brake setup, great for stop/go and high speed stopping.... _____________________________ 1981 Civic Station Wagon - ROhnda (Really Old Honda) 1981 Honda CB650 Motorcylce - WHEE What More can I say? 2000 Lexus RX 300 - Oooh baby my wife let me drive it once!! I brought the ones for 20 bucks. The 4th and 2nd one died on me inn as little as 2 months.
