hi. wanted to fill in folks on my new project. today i'm getting the Dension IceLink:Plus for my '05 accord (from logjam electronics www.logjamelectronics.com). it will replace the XM on my factory stereo, and has a ton of features: ipod control from the head unit (and sterring wheel controls!) including playlist selection, track advance/rewind automatically play/pause when iPod input is selected charges iPod (for 20mins after car is shut off too!) text display of track information on the factory stereo (for XM-enabled, which mine is) a downside for some is, you have to disconnect XM...i don't subscribe anyway, so no problem there... anyway, it will be arriving in an hour or so, and i'm doing the install myself (with the help of http://distantcreations.com/accordipod/). if this works as advertised, i'd recommend it to everyone. updates to follow...

Does anyone know of a way to integrate an iPod in a '98 Accord. Ie what is in behind the radio? Does it have an Aux In or something like that?

This is a good thread. I don't know about the '98 but I know that a lot of the newer stock radios have a simple AUX in in the back of the head unit and there are iPod cables you can get that plug right into them by an aftermarket company. I wish there was an easy way of integrating an iPod into an 03 - 06 Accord. I have been looking for an easy way but have not found it. I'll have a look at the pics. In Canada we don't have XM radio so I'm not sure if this will work..... I have the EX V6 Coupe.

gummi_67 and ha007 you should have a cd changer port anyway. check the application chart for various products. most of the cables can be found at logjamelectronics.com

Steev, I installed Icelink on my 2005 V6 Coupe with 6 Speed. Went through a fair amount of anxiety because 6 speed came with CD changer which hides the radio aux plug, but eventually got everything installed. I have the Icelink doc that I just velcroed to an old phone mount that I no longer use. My question to you though is do you have XM radio and are you able to use it as well. Here is a long descripton of my install activities if anyone is interested: http://www.v6performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33659&page=2&pp=30

no, the icelink plugs into the same port as the XM antenna. (so i had to disconnect the XM to install) -s edit: i read your thread on v6performance.net...i see your problem...i don't have that problem cause i ain't payin' no $13 a month for crappy XM service. i used the 3 free months when i got the car, and was not impressed. my ipod has 9000 songs and is well organized, so it's all i use.

steev, yep, I hear you. I am loving the quality of the sound with the iPod, so have second thoughts. Have a switch on order and on the way to me. Would like to install it and make sure it works so I will have it as a plus for resale. Will post regardless as there are those that still want both.

Steev, I'd be very interested to hear how this is working for you. I installed the Icelink in my '04 Honda Accord with Nav in 5/05 when they first came out. Do you have the navigation system? The unit does not do text display of the track information on the factory navi unit. Although Dension told me it would before I bought it. You can't browse playlists or artists. All you can do from the stereo controls is select the 1st 5 playlists on your ipod or change tracks within a playlist. Otherwise you have to go to Track 6 and activate the Icelink menu which displays on the ipod, not on the navigation screen. Another thing they lied about to me before I bought it, they said I'd be able to do all that on the navigation screen. They also didn't mention that you'd be going through an Icelink menu rather than the ipod menus. All that said, my biggest problems and disappointment with it are the connectivity. My car battery has died twice. I had the Icelink set to only charge the ipod while playing. On the 2nd time Honda did a draw test and found the radio was pulling 68 amps when the car was turned off and the ipod wasn't even connected to the IceLink!! Went back to Best Buy and had them pull out the IceLink and cable and restore navigation/radio connection to factory standard. Honda redid the draw test and found it's now normal. When I got the Icelink directly from Dension, they sent instructions from Logjam for buying a Honda cable and splicing it on the Icelink cable so that's what Best Buy did. I suspect that may be the issue but I'm not sure. Best Buy checked it and says they did the splicing correctly. Now Dension says to buy a different Honda cable that's a Y cable (part 08A31-0F1-000) as an alternative to the splicing. Is that what you used? Have you tested the draw on your battery with the IceLink installed to make sure the unit isn't drawing power when you car is off? Do you ever let your car sit for periods of time? I don't drive my Accord all the time so it'll be weeks sometimes before I go to start it up. If i'd been driving it everyday, I probably wouldn't have found out about the draw issue until some other unfortunate time down the road. Also the unit malfunctions frequently, even after sent back for a warranty replacement. Either the stereo doesn't recognize it when I start the car. Or while playing it'll skip to track 99 and then stop playing. It'll work again after the car is restarted one or more times. I for one, am sorely disappointed in the Icelink. I was as excited as you when I got it, but that excitement has just turned to frustration. I'll be calling Dension again tomorrow to try and get them to be of some help in this. They shouldn't be selling it unless they include the proper wiring to install it and a safe way to install it without causing a draw. They never said a word about the special wiring requirements until after the unit shipped. LMarie
