Hi. I have an 93 accord LX 10th anniversary. It takes 6x5 speakers in the rear deck, but I want to put 6x9, except that there is a metal bar that won't let me do it. this bar sits right under the speaker in it goes all the way from one side of the truck to the other. Now, simple question:

What is that bar for? Can I cut it withoit losing some sort of function?

otherwise and as a follow up question, can anyone recommend good 6x5 speakers with good base? I don't have an amp, but I might get one later.

Also is there another way to remove the front speakers other that to remove the door panels? if not, is it hard to remove these panels? what should I be careful with?

Thanks.

I would suggest sticking with 6.5's all the way around.  Here is why-

Without an amp, youre not going to get much bass no matter what you do.  Especially on a rear deck which is pretty flimsy.

Generally, 6.5's will sound better than 6x9's.  A round speaker is more rigid than an oval one and will be more resistant to distortion.  Now good quality 6x9's like MB Quart or Polk Audio's models will sound as good as a 6.5 AND have better midbass because of the added displacement of the larger cone.  But cheaper coaxial type 6x9's will be a little worse.

If youre wanting some really good sound quality then I recommend getting 4 very good 6.5 speakers and a good amp.

Im a big fan of Polk Audio so I would pick their MMC650 for $170 shipped.  http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLMMC650

If those are over your budget, Id say try their entry level DB line for $66 shipped.  http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLDB650

For an amp, Profile makes great entry level models.  Theyre not that fancy and dont have many features but they will cleanly make their rated power and are built well.  Best of all, theyre dirt cheap.   http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vLJIk5A4il5/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489HA1040

The bar you talked about... whats it look like... heavy bar or thin ? And does it move when the trunk lid goes up and down ?
