whassup everybody. i'm new to the forums, and to modding cars. i have a 94 accord ex that i'm looking to make a little faster. i'm not sure that i want to dish out the cash for a brand name exhaust here. has anyone had any experience with any of the brandless catback setups on ebay? i'm mostly just looking for some added hp here, but i want to avoid any loud fart can sounding exhausts at all costs. i'd really appreciate it if one of you experienced guys could point me in the right direction. thanks

basically what your gonna hear is "you get what you pay for" so if you buy a crap system, dont be surprised if it fails on ya. I just spent close to 500 bucks on a system, but i figure its money well spent because i get a warntee on it. So thats something you might want to consider before you commit to a cheap system

ok then, here's more questions: should i get headers or a catback first? what type of gains could be expected from each, and if i go with a name brand exhaust, what would you guys recommend? what about the apexi ws2? are there any other comparable catbacks that are a little cheaper?

If you are going to get both a cat-back and headers, you may as well wait.  Either way you are going to have to take the complete exhaust system off, so waiting would simply mean you will have to take it all off @ once, plus you will feel a bigger gain in power.  Before you install the stuff, make sure to spray your bolts with either wd-40 or liquid wrench becasue those exhaust parts arent going to be the easiest to remove.  I am also interested in the Tsudo N-1.  I like my exhaust, it just isnt loud enough for me.  I would recommend the WS2 if you dont want to be making people deaf or the fart can sound.

engines need some amount of backpressure to run properly right? what's the best size piping to get before it's just overkill?

2.25 in.   Any bigger than that and you'll start losing backpressure.  2.5 at the VERY max.
