you know how OEM ones can break and have a hole on the muffler, then there will be a louder noise comming out of it. Is this possible with the aftermarket mufflers that go straight-through without any backpressure?
or do these mufflers just go on forever? lol

Yeah they can break. although because a lot of them user higher grade materials in both inner and outer construction, they do last longer and less likely to break before other parts of your car. But considering the abuse and effects of weather they encounter under your car, they will eventually go bad.

well, since they go straight through, its not pushing against anything, so it shouldnt break, right?
cause my brother used to have this 88 camry a long time ago with an aftermarket muffler that was like those flowmaster ones, then it eventually broke and made no sound, lol...

like this one

but yea, if i get a catback, its gonna be full stainless steel, so that should last at least 200,000 miles without any problems, right?

My Mufflers on my cars are Lifetime Warranty, so I guess you could say that they can go on forever..

I've had some trouble with my muffler, which is a Magnaflow straight through muffler, but I think that it is due to weather and a poorly done weld job. I suggest that if you live in a snowy place, keep a close eye on the welds of your muffler, because the salt that the road crews put down on the roads will cause the welds to rust out fairly quick, which can result in a hole in your muffler. Mine wasn't a big deal to fix though, I just welded the hole in the muffler shut again, and stuck the muffler to a new non-rusted hanger.
