I replaced my timing and balancer belt yesturday. The car idles and drives perfectly. But now there is a high pitched whinning noise. I'm wondering if i tightened the timing and balancer belt too much. Also there is a slight vibration when i am accelerating. However if im driving at high speeds like on the freeway, it drives and feels fine. Any help would be wonderful. thank you.

as for the noise yes it could be that you overtighten the belts,, as for the vibration, if it was not there before the work you performed.. . you could have the balancer shafts out of alignment .. First thing i would do is to double chk all the work you did , there is some write ups with pictures on our DIY section , you might want to take a look there and see if anything looks different of how you installed yours

I did the timing belt ,balancer belt and the tensioners on my 99 LX 4 cylinder. I had one or both belts too tight and there was a whining noise. I just got them adjusted correctly last weekend. It is totally silent now. Search tensioners and you will find my posts about it.
